Architects in Schools

Architects In Schools

Aided by the volunteer efforts of practicing architects and emerging professionals, this program administered by the Architecture Foundation of Oregon was begun by Marjorie Wintermute, FAIA more than 30 years ago.  It currently serves 2,200 third through fifth grade students in the Portland metro area, and in Central Oregon, Salem and Eugene.  Volunteer architects partner with classroom teachers to implement 6-week residencies – teaching architectural and design themes to classes of students. The program culminates in May and June exhibitions of student work at the Center for Architecture, and other locations in downtown Portland and participating Oregon communities.
