Every day, we look for ways to improve our business operations to become an even bigger force for change in our community and the world.

Green Hammer’s success is strongly rooted in an exceptional team of experts and a forward-thinking company culture.  We focus on collaboration, team and individual success, and results that matter in our community and in the world.

WHO YOU ARE

You have worked in the architecture and construction industry and are excited to join one of the most forward-thinking design-build companies in Portland, Oregon - and on the West Coast.

You are enticed by Green Hammer’s mission. You share Green Hammer’s values and have a strong desire to bring them to life in every interaction and decision-making process with team members, clients, and project colleagues.

You see working as a team as the most effective way to tap into and utilize institutional knowledge and are comfortable guiding a team as well as contributing to team leadership by others.  Coaching and supporting teams toward clear decision-making and task management is your second nature.

You thrive in an organizational environment that promotes self-motivation and self-management with a high degree of accountability. In fact, you prefer it over hierarchical structures and find it serves you best in moving your projects forward.  You are a highly organized, self-starting individual and are comfortable designing and managing a variety of design-build projects including residential, multi-family, and commercial projects.

You are comfortable identifying and setting priorities for the team to meet both deadlines and budgets and can balance the pull of both time-sensitive and lower priority needs to ensure progress on all fronts.  Additionally, you can engage with and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Most of all you love engaging with a design process that results in healthy and inspiring architecture combined with innovative technology in energy efficiency and green building.  You love the messy creative aspect of design but know how to balance and manage it with a clear and efficient process, an organized calendar, and adherence to a budget.  You thrive on exceeding your client’s expectations of livability, health, and comfort and you pride yourself on exceptional customer service  while engaging with clients to guide them through the (sometimes overwhelming) process of design.

ROLE IMPACT

Green Hammer is a fast-moving, innovative company, engaging a highly competent team to deliver projects of exceptional design and cutting-edge technology, on time and on budget.  For our Design Team, we focus on the concept of the whole Architect, someone capable of both bringing an inspiring design to life while keeping an eye on the bigger picture of owner expectations, budget, and calendar.

As an Architect 2, you are an integral part of the Unified Design-Build Process and a key driver of the Design.  You will be involved in a variety of projects from renovations, new ADUs and single- family residences, to small multi-family and commercial.  Depending on the project scale, you will fulfill a variety of roles including Project Architect and Design Project Manager and be engaged with projects from Sales through Construction Administration.

As Design Project Manager, you shape the success of the project from the beginning by taking the leadership in scheduling and budgeting for the design process, ensuring the owner’s goals, priorities, and expectations are understood and managed for, and that the Project Team understands the intent of the design and the construction documents are delivered within time and budget expectations.  As Project Architect, you shape the success of the project through your focus on delivering a healthy and inspiring design for the client, and creating an efficient and effective set of drawings for the team to bring the project to fruition on time and on budget.

Success in this position results in elated clients who see and participate in a clear design-build process, confident and empowered teammates working together to manifest the client’s dream, and your happiness in coming to work every day on projects and with teams that inspire you to do your best work.

The Leadership Levels of an Architect 2 are a combination of:

  • Level 5: Act + Report Routinely
  • Level 6: Powerful + Constantly Lead Others Internally

AREAS of RESPONSIBILITIES

Depending on the scale of the project there are a variety of Areas of Responsibility under the purview of an Architect 2:

  • On remodels, ADUs, single-family residences, and some multi-family and commercial projects you will serve as both the Design Project Manager and the Project Architect and, in addition to the management responsibilities above, will develop the design and design documents from Pre-Design through Construction Administration.
