The Job:

Requires knowledge of and experience in design and document production. Has the ability to initiate technical research such as space planning, setting up of construction documents, initial development of details, etc. Beginning to coordinate construction administration and performs tasks such as submission / shop drawing review, file organization such as ASIs, RFIs & other C/A documentation, as well as field construction installation review with the supervision of an upper level designer. Also has basic knowledge of building and planning codes and does initial code reviews / research prior to handing off to Project Designer for review.  Ability to work independently in all phases of small- to medium-sized projects and supports a Project Designer on large complex projects.  Is beginning to direct the work of junior designers with supervision of a Project Designer. Works under moderate supervision.  A certain level of creative latitude is granted.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with team to develop designs and create drawings and for small to medium projects may oversee all design and drawing.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations as needed. Includes conducting client interviews to determine space needs and requirements.
  • Assist Project Designer in developing project documents for permitting, bidding and construction.
  • Create space plans and test fits from programming criteria.
  • Create pricing plans / documents, design development documents and construction documents to represent ideas to clients, contractors and other required entities.
  • Provide thorough code analysis, especially in regards to accessibility and fire / life safety.
  • Provide input to the design and construction schedule – communicate the technical implications of design decisions.
  • Develop and deliver overall design / furniture packages for small to medium projects and assists in developing packages for larger projects.
  • Ability to review shop drawings, submittal packages, requests for interpretation and respond to correspondence from General Contractors and their Subcontractors.
  • Manage design budget for assigned projects.
  • Ensure adherence to set budget and immediately informs Project Designer of any potential variances to the budget.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Extensive knowledge of design principles and aesthetics.
  • Extensive knowledge of furnishings and finishes.
  • Extensive knowledge of Building Code.
  • Intermediate knowledge of space planning.
  • Proven ability to function in all phases of project development from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Talent, commitment and passion for client satisfaction, quality design and documentation.
  • Understanding of basic information required within a construction document set.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist in mentoring and guiding junior staff.
  • Coordinate with consultants and vendors.
  • Effective Time Management skills.
  • Good graphic presentation skills.



  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Interior Design Program.
  • Minimum 3 to 4 years of experience in a variety of interior design projects, with focus on office / corporate interior design.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented and set high standards for accuracy.
  • Must have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all employee and company information.
