Experience

SOLARC Architecture, Inc Associate Architect
Aug 2014 — Current
While working at SOLARC, I have had the recent successes:
As the Project Architect and the Project Designer, I managed 2 large projects from Concept through Construction concurrently. One is a complicated Tenant Improvement for the State of Oregon Department of Administrative Services involving multiple agencies in an occupied building and tight time lines (approximately 100,000 sf). The
other is a Design Build project for the Oregon Military Department for a renovation of their Readiness Center in Medford, Oregon while the building is occupied and hosting public rental events (approximately 45,000 sf).

 I was asked personally by the State of Oregon, Department of Administrative Services to assist them in the design of several office Tenant Improvements for state agencies that will help set the standards for design and space allocations for personnel.

 Successfully completed a new 15, 000 sf Administration Building for the Kennewick Irrigation District in Kennewick, Washington. This project had a tight timeline of 10 months from signing of the contract to move in. This was a new facility and needed to be held to tight timelines and budgets.

I have also done the following the tasks:

Bringing facilities up to Code, Aesthetic upgrades and SEED Compliance to (2) Oregon Military Department Readiness Centers. These were upgraded for seismic, Energy, OSSC, and also were designed to be Net Zero Ready.
 Working with the Department of Administration Services (DAS) on multiple Tenant Improvements. Some in in the
range of $5 million while others are under $10,000.
 Assisting DAS in setting their space standards for employees as well as upgrade the aesthetics of their aging
facilities.
 Numerous small, code compliance projects for Property Management companies,
 Presentation Graphics for numerous projects
 Personnel Management
 Client Management
 Direct involvement in all aspects of project delivery.
 Proposal Graphics
 Active Marketing
C2 Design Contract - Project Architect
Mar 2014 — Aug 2014
I assisted the owner of C2 Design with the design, presentation and construction document development for a large, 170 unit apartment complex in Vancouver, WA.
Weller Architects Senior Project Designer / Project Architect
Sep 2013 — Oct 2013
Having returned to Weller Architects after a hiatus of 10 years, my focus was to assist in the Marketing and Client Attraction. Not only finding potential RFP's and RFQ's, but to craft responses to them. In addition to Marketing capabilities, I was also brought on to assist with the design and development of current projects.
Van H Gilbert Architect PC Senior Project Designer
Jul 2012 — Sep 2013
Moving from Oregon down to New Mexico to gain experience using Revit and in Project Management, I also assisted in the design of large, higher educational projects.

As a Project Manager, I facilitated work between the firm's Lead Designer and Production. I would create redlines from sketches, them delegate work for 2-4 employees at a time in order to meet project deadlines.

As a Senior Project Designer, I assisted in the creation of project visualizations to be used in the creation of Marketing responses, funding presentations, and for Client clarification of design intent for various projects. I also contributed to the Design of major building elements for large Renovation Projects for Higher Education Projects for various universities in New Mexico.
BBT Architects Project Architect / Lead Design
Oct 2006 — Jun 2012
Settling in Bend, Oregon, I was employed at BBT Architects for approximately 5-1/2 years. During my time at BBT Architects, I was given numerous opportunities to not only develop new skills but show case existing ones. I was brought on board to lead the in house design and documentation effort for a large, Mixed-Use project. In addition to this project, I was Lead Design and Project Architect on several projects for the firm that ranged in size from one room hospital renovations to large development projects.

During one segment of time there, I was designing, managing, and producing documents for two large projects. One a Regional Government Office Building, and the other, a large Corporate Headquarter Building. At one point, I was managing 2-8 people and providing work to the team in order to meet deadlines. This was in addition to a couple of small Tenant Improvements that came up during that time.

Another main role at BBT, was that of creating digital imagery to be used as marketing material, Client Verification, City Permitting Processes, and imagery for in house staff on their projects.

As part of the Designer Role, I would initiate the design of projects that would ultimately be developed by other architects within the firm.

One particular success was the design of Centennial Park in Redmond, Oregon. This project was done in conjunction with Walker Macy, out of Portland, Oregon and involved the re-use of downtown city block that was to be converted into a new Civic Plaza. The Project involved numerous Community Meetings to gain the Community’s opinion and guidance on the design for the Plaza. In the end, the Plaza has been a huge success for the City of Redmond. This project was the stimulus for the City to help invigorate the downtown core with people and spur the redevelopment of the downtown area.
